Gurnee Assured Healthcare CEO named top female leader

GURNEE, Ill. (January 25, 2014)  - Christine Hammerlund, founder and CEO of Gurnee-based Assured Healthcare Inc., has been named one of  “Enterprising Women” magazine’s female entrepreneurs of the year.

The magazine’s 12th annual awards honor female leaders, inventors and businesswomen from across the world for their inventive advancement of business interests.

Leaders were honored for their achievements in six categories based on the annual income of their business. The annual awards note the achievements of honorees nationwide and from 17 countries outside the United States.

“Receiving this award is quite an honor and reflects the hard work and commitment by the team at Assured Healthcare Staffing,” Hammerlund said. “The company lives by and makes decisions based on our core values of abundance, peace, honesty, trust, enthusiasm, and respect.  Earlier this year Assured Healthcare Staffing expanded operations to Madison, WI, “We realized top line growth, our training division has grown, we’ve increased our services to additional school districts, to name a few,” Hammerlund noted.

 Assured Healthcare was founded by Hammerlund in 2007. Its staff of 70 professional nurses, technicians and health care providers serves all of northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin in home, business, laboratory and institutional settings.  

Assured is a member of the Home Care Association of America and does $2.5 million in annual sales. Hammerlund is a veteran nurse and leading entrepreneur. 

The magazine’s honorees will be recognized during an event held March 2 through March 4 at t(he Ritz Carlton Sarasota in Sarasota, Fla. 

The awards are widely considered one of the most prestigious recognition programs for women business owners. To receive recognition, nominees must demonstrate that they have fast-growth businesses, mentor or actively support other women and girls involved in entrepreneurship, and stand out as leaders in their communities. Many of the honorees also serve as leaders of key organizations that promote the growth of women’s entrepreneurship.
