Holiday Market

  • Why Go?: Shop from over 20 local artisans, stock up on home-baked goods at the bake sale, enter the raffle and enjoy refreshments in the cafe. All funds raised will benefit Our Place and The Community Church nonprofit organizations.

West Side Story Production

  • When: Friday, Nov. 16 & Saturday, Nov. 17, 7:30 p.m.
  • Where: Regina Dominican’s O’Shaughnessy Theater701 Locust Rd., Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Regina Dominican will perform the classic musical, West Side Story on Friday and Saturday. West Side Story tells a Romeo and Juliet story set in New York City in the mid-1950s.
  • Pricing: $10 for adults, $5 for high school

Gentle "Easy Does It Yoga"

  • Where:Full Bloomed Lotus, 1217 Washington Ave., Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Gain confidence, balance and strength with simple yoga postures including chair yoga.  The 70-minute session will allow you to focus on the breath and safe alignment, and enjoy a reduction in stress and anxiety. The class is taught by Daniela Nevo, a Certified Yoga Teacher who is currently focusing on Joint Freeing Yoga Therapy.

IHSA Football Class 8A Semifinal - Glenbard North vs. Loyola Academy

  • When: Saturday, November 17, 2012, 1:00 pm
  • Where: Loyola Academy, 1100 Laramie Ave, Wilmette
  • Why Go?: The Loyola Academy Ramblers take on the Glenbard North Panthers for a trip to the state championship game in Class 8A. The CN100 cameras will also be in the stands as Battle of the Fans returns to see which school has the biggest and best student section

"Stuff the Truck" coat drive

  • When: Saturday, Nov.17 & Sunday, Nov. 18, 9:00 a.m.
  • Where: Chalet, 3132 Lake Ave., Wilmette
  • Why Go?: The nonprofit organization StandUp for Kids, Chicago, and Chalet Landscape, Nursery and Garden Center in Wilmette are teaming up to help homeless teens and young adults during the cold months through a "Stuff the Truck" coat drive. There are about 20,000 homeless teens and young adults on the streets of Chicago who are in need as cold weather arrives. The goal of the coat drive is to collect 1,000 new or gently used coats.

  • Why Go?: Featured will be vendors with unique and creative merchandise for all ages - jewelry, clothing, craft items, toys, books and much more.  Shopping galore and food available!

Viola and Cello Concert

  • When: Sunday, November 18, 2012, 2:00 p.m.
  • Where: Wilmette Public Library, 1242 Wilmette Ave., Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Wilmette resident and violinist Stephanie Quinn will be joined by Lorraine Wallace on cello at this Sunday afternoon concert featuring music ranging from Bach and Beethoven to a ragtime selection by the contemporary composer William Ryden.

Opera in Cinema presents: The Marriage of Figaro at Wilmette Theatre

  • When: Sunday, November 18, 2012, 2:30 p.m.
  • Where: Wilmette Theatre, 1122 Central Ave., Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Revolution is in the air in David McVicar’s wonderfully illuminating production of Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro). Life on an estate in the late 1820s reveals with truth and no little wit all the tensions between master and servants, with the symptoms of Europe’s social upheaval never far away. Mozart’s music makes this one of the finest jewels in the opera repertory, with a wealth of famous melodies that start from the familiar first notes of the energetic Overture. Conducted by Antonio Pappano.

B'Kol Echad - In One Voice

  • When: Sunday, November 18, 2012, 4:00 p.m.
  • Where: 3220 Big Tree Ln., Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Beth Hillel Congregation Bnai Emunah will present a concert -- a Musical Journey of Sound and Soul, featuring Cantor Pavel Roytman, Chicago A Cappella, Nazar Dzhuryn (cello), Campanella Children's Choir and members of the Tum Balalaika Band.
  • Pricing: $30 in advance, $36 at the door
