Honky Tonk, Free Ice Cream and Prom: Your Best Bets for the Weekend

1) Live Music at the Rock House: Head to the Rock House in Wilmette for an evening of live music on Saturday. At 6 p.m., students from the Rock House's Music School will take the stage to perform honky tonk hits. (Trust us — you won't want to miss a nine-year-old's rendition of Patsy Cline's "Waking After Midnight".) At 8 p.m., local rock band The Topsiders will begin, with Dana DeStefano and Doll Parts playing at 10 p.m. The Rock House 6 p.m. (student show) 8 p.m. (rock show). Saturday. FREE. 

2) Ice Cream Social: Spring has officially sprung — so celebrate the warm weather with some FREE ice cream! Steve & Kate's Camp will be giving out free scoops of ice cream for parents and children ages 12 and under to learn more about the camp. Homer's Homemade Gourmet Ice Cream (1237 Green Bay Rd., Wilmette). Saturday, 1 p.m, FREE.

3) Monologue Intensive With Goodman Theatre Casting Director: Planning on auditioning for some spring plays? Then join the Goodman Theatre Casting Director to work on your monologue. Registration is $275 and you can register by calling (847) 251-8710 or by emailing info@actorstrainingcenter.com. Wilmette Theatre (1122 Central Ave.). Sunday April 7. 9-1 p.m. $275 per person.

4) YMCA Prom Fashion Show: Few things in high school are more stressful than getting ready for prom. So let the YMCA make it a little easier for you — get your tickets for the Y's fashion show where local high school models will walk the runway donning outfits from That Girl Boutique, Charming Charlie's and Men's Wearhouse. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Y's Strong Kids Fund. 2705 Techny Rd., Northbrook. Sunday, April 7. 1:30 p.m. $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
