New Artisanal Grocery Store Opens in Wilmette

A new grocery store featuring sustainably produced and unique foods has opened in Wilmette.

A new grocery store is bringing organic, sustainably-produced and unique artisan foods to Wilmette.

Artisanal Grocery recently opened at 414 Linden Ave. The store features an in-house butcher shop, a dedicated wine/beer and spirits room and hundreds of cheeses, chocolates, baked-goods and a gourmet deli counter.

The store was opened by husband and wife team Marsha and Ray Pesavento, who also own UrbanOrchard Grocery in Andersonville.

Marsha has over 30 years of food-related experience, having attended culinary school and worked as a restaurant consultant, food stylist, recipe developer, caterer and other food-related occupations. She was previously a pastry chef at Cafe Provencal in Evanston.

Ray has been an owner and developer of numerous retail buildings throughout the Evanston and Andersonville for over 15 years.

"My life revolves around food," Marcia said in a press release. "Supporting responsible, independent food producers, both in the Midwest and around the country, inspires me. I have so much respect for small-batch food producers who recognize the importance of supporting their local farmers and knowing where their ingredients are coming from."
