Police: 8 Teens Busted in Eden's Plaza Drug Deal

The New Trier Township teens and two 20-year-olds are being charged or cited for drug-related crimes by Wilmette police.

Ten subjects are in custody after a drug seizure in Wilmette led to the arrest of additional subjects when a drug deal was stopped at Edens Plaza, police reports state.

Wilmette Police officers and investigators from the North Gang Team of the Cook County Sheriff's Police located MDMA, Vicodin, possible cannabis and drug paraphernalia while executing a search warrant at a 1529 Forest Ave. home, police reports state. The warrant, which was executed on May 31, was conducted for an ongoing cannabis and MDMA (ecstasy) investigation of Oskar Vahtra and his house.

According to police records, officers located and seized MDMA and Vicodin, several containers and plastic bags suspected to contain cannabis, several pieces of drug paraphernalia (including grinders, small plastic baggies, empty capsules, a glass pipe and a portable scale), U.S. currency and a miniature cannon at Vahtra's house. Vahtra, along with four other subjects present at the home during the time of the seizure, was taken into police custody.

Following the execution of the search warrant and with further investigation, Wilmette Police and Investigators from the North Gang Team conducted a drug enforcement operation at Eden's Plaza — located at 3232 Lake Ave. — that led to the arrest of three subjects for attempting to purchase cannabis and two subjects for attempting to sell cannabis.

Vahtra, 18, of Wilmette is being charged with one felony count of possession of controlled substance with the intent to deliver and one misdemeanor count of possession of a firearm without a FOID, Police reports state. He is currently being held on a $10,000 bond. His next court date is set for June 7.

Robert Kyle III, 19, of Winnetka is being charged with one felony count of cannabis with the intent to deliver, police reports state. He was released on $40,000 bond. His court date is set for June 7.

One 17-year-old female from Northfield, a 17-year-old female from Glencoe and a 16-year-old female from Winnetka are all being issued a citation for possession of less than 10 grams of Cannabis, police state.

Dylan Brennan, 19, of Chicago, Andrew Cahill, 20, of Winnetka and one 17-year-old from Glencoe were issued a local ordinance citation for possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis.

A 17-year-old was charged but later had his record expunged.
