A dog walker and his toy poodle were attacked by a golden retriever on the 700 block of 11th St., according to Wilmette Police.
The incident, which happened on the morning of June 9, left the poodle with injuries so bad it had to be euthanized. Reports state that the golden retriever left the porch it was on and grabbed the toy poodle. The dog walker attempted to stop the attack but was bitten on the hand.
The attacking dog owner was cited for having a dog at large, an unlicensed dog, attack or bite of persons or animals and having a dangerous animal. He was given a court date and told to impound the dog.
