Update: Parking Ban is in Effect
Today's storm is expected to drop five to seven inches of snow on Wilmette.
Updated Friday 5 p.m.
Parking is prohibited on both sides of the street from now until 24 hours after the snow stops to allow for plowing operations. Residents are advised to park in their driveways or garage.
Wilmette Police Department Commander of Special Operations Patrick Collins said several car accidents were reported throughout the day though he did not have details. No roads were closed as a result of accidents.

Crews from public works are working on plowing and salting Wilmette's main streets and business and commuter walking routes according to the village's Web site. Once these are clear they will begin working on side streets.
The Union Pacific/North Line Metra is still experiencing heavy delays. Trains are operating between 17 and 80 minutes late.

Ken Kennedy, assistant director of the Wilmette said crews are out salting the roads now in preparation for the five to seven inches of snow expected to drop on the village. No accidents had been reported as of 11:30 a.m.

Friday afternoon:
If you're traveling anywhere by make sure to leave yourself plenty of extra time. Union Pacific/North Line (UP-N) are delayed 55 to 65 minutes as of 2:15 p.m. A train schedule to depart Waukegan at 1:10 p.m. will not be leaving at all.
