Video: Families Take on Fun Run for the Fourth

Wilmette Park District holds annual 5k run for Independence Day.

Hundreds of runners and walkers got an early start on Wilmette's Fourth of July celebrations taking part in the Park District's Annual 5k Fun Run and Walk.

The course for the 5k was slightly altered this year because of construction on Central Avenue. The four mile course had runners head west on Greenleaf Avenue before heading north on Wilmette Avenue then back to Gillson Park down Sheridan Road.

Runners received free t-shirts from the Park District as well as a breakfast of bagels and bananas after crossing the finish line.
