Wilmette Man Evacuated from Home Due to Gas Leak

The leak occurred at 10th Street and Central Avenue Tuesday.

A gas leak at the corner of Central Avenue and 10th Street Tuesday morning caused a Wilmette man to be evacuated from his home, Triblocal reports

“The construction company cut some concrete, and it appears that a gas line was more shallow than they thought,” Wilmette Fire Duty Chief Tom Robertson told Triblocal.

The village fire department, as well as Nicor Gas representatives responded to the incident around 11:15 a.m., and repaired the leak in about two hours.
