Lecture on A Quiet Revolution: The Veil’s Resurgence, from the Middle East to America

In this lecture, Norma Clair Moruzzi, PhD., Associate Professor and Director of the International Studies Program at the University of Illinois, will focus on issues raised in this book by Leila Ahmed. She will explore unexpected connections between contemporary veiling, national politics, individual aspirations for self-determination, and collective activism for positive social change.
Part of the Let’s Talk About It: Muslim Journeys, reading and discussion series, which has been made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities in cooperation with the American Library Association.
