Samba and Socialism: An Introduction to Brazil (NSSC Class)

Some of the most iconic images of Brazil range from the samba and Carnival in Rio de Janeiro to the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. But what is the real Brazil like? This interactive course will intensively explore the sounds, people, and politics of Brazil, one of the BRIC countries, and host to the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games of 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. Join Rebecca Pike and learn about the real Brazil. Discussions will be strongly encouraged in this seminar-style course.

Monday,     3/10,    1pm - 3pm

The cost is$9 member; $12 non-member.  Call 847/784-6030 to register or visit the website at www.nssc.org.
