Tony Bennett

Hy Speck, Adjunct Professor, Oakton Community College

At 87, Tony Bennett is the last of the great vocalists still
singing and swinging. Son of Italian immigrants, he rose from poverty to become
one of the most beloved performers in the world. Winner of 17 Grammys, two
Emmys, and a Kennedy Center Honoree, he has sold over 100 million records. His
recording of I Left My Heart in San Francisco was record of the year in 1963,
and he cannot perform anywhere without including it in his program. In
addition, he is a renowned artist; his paintings sell for over $100,000 and are
exhibited in museums around the world. Hy Speck shares stories of the life and
accomplishments of this remarkable performer.
