Until modern times, Jewish women - about half of the Jewish people - were not considered full citizens. Rabbi Adam Chalom will examine their experience in this context. What traditional images continue to challenge full inclusion? What insights did Jewish feminism offer Jewish women AND Jewish men? How have we moved forward in the past hundred years? Topics will include Biblical and Rabbinic perspectives, women and Jewish law, the Jewish family, Jewish feminism, the Israeli experience, and women rabbis.
