Kenilworth Union Church Outreach Benefit

On April 15, 2011 Kenilworth Union Church will be hosting its annual benefit, Looking up and Reaching out.  The event will take place at Michigan Shores Club in Wilmette, IL.  The event will take place from 6-11pm.

Kenilworth Union Church supports and partners with agencies and programs that demonstrate the ability to address these same goals most successfully and compassionately with full recognition of the dignity of those we seek to assist.  The church currently supports approximately 50 social service and educational organizations-all within the greater Chicago Metro area.  The event draws over 250 attendees and involves a silent auction, live auction, performance from children from one of the agencies and dinner.  The programs supported by our Outreach Benefit improve the lives of countless people in need and 100% of the proceeds from this event go directly to the agencies.
This year we are highlighting four agencies at our annual benefit:

·          Holy Trinity High School – a Catholic high school located in Chicago, serving predominantly low-income, at risk teenagers from some of the most challenging communities.  The school operates without any public funding or funding from the Archdiocese of Chicago.  Since 2006, a remarkable 100% of Holy Trinity graduates have achieved college acceptance.

·          Merit School of Music – founded in 1979, a non-profit organization founded on the desire to provide life changing experiences for children through music.  Its reach extends to more than 7,000 children, especially those economically disadvantaged, at nearly 90 locations throughout Chicago.

·          Holy Family School – established in 1985, an affordable faith-based K-8 private school with an impressive track record of sending 87% of its students onto selective college prep high schools.  75% of the school’s operations are funded outside of tuition.

·          Umoja Student Development Corporation – provides students long plagued by low academic and social expectations with programs that foster positive social, academic and leadership development.  Umoja partners with teachers and school leadership to help students grow, learn, and assume responsibility for themselves.  More than 80% of its funding comes from private donations.
