Kenilworth Awarded $19,000 For Green Upgrades

The grants will be used to install energy-efficient indoor lighting.

Kenilworth will be upgrading indoor lighting in several public buildings thanks to more than $19,000 in grant money, according to village staff. 

and cut electricity use by more than 31,000 of kilowatt hours per year, Patch user Kyle Kordell, an administrative intern at Village of Kenilworth, posted. 

The first grant is $11,263.50 from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, which covers approximately 50 percent of the total project cost for energy efficiency upgrades. An additional $7,812 was awarded by the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation and is expected to cover an additional 35% of the total project cost.
