Bobby's Deerfield Review: Saving the Best for Last

When Café Lucci's signature dessert arrives in Deerfield, people are going to love it.

Welcome to North Shore Foodie Finds, where Patch showcases unusual eats available at restaurants around the North Shore.

This week, we're spotlighting a trip to one of North Shore’s established restaurants which will be one of the area’s newest next month when Bobby and Augie Arifi, the owners of Glenview’s Café Lucci, open Bobby’s Deerfield.

Though Café Lucci is an Italian restaurant, Bobby’s will be “an American bistro with an Italian influence,” according to Bobby Arifi. Patch was treated to a tasting of the new menu last week and was thrilled.

After enjoying appetizers and main courses, it was time for dessert. After writing about the initial part of the menu Monday, Patch saved a review of Augie’s Chocolate Cake for last. The signature dessert will be coming to Deerfield.

We weren’t sure what Bobby Arifi and his crew would bring to top off our multi-course meal but they must have heard us rave when we saw the chocolate layer cake arrive at a nearby table. The best part is that it tasted even better than it looked.

All three of us are confirmed chocolate lovers and the cake was wonderful. It was very moist and not overpowering chocolate. The frosting was not too creamy and the plate was garnished with chocolate sauce.

If you cannot wait for Bobby’s to open next month, head over to Café Lucci in Glenview and try the cake.
