This film is centered around two twelve year old kids, Suzy, played by Kara Hayward, and Sam, played by Jared Gilman,  who fall in love and become pen pals which leads them to run away together.

Sam, being a khaki scout, guides them through the wilderness all while his troop and their Scout Master Ward, played by Edward Norton, are trying to track them down. The small, calm island of New Penzance, where the film is set, is whipped into a frenzy by the flight of these two youngsters.

Moonrise Kingdom is an easy flowing, captivating film that fills its audience with a feeling of surrealism.  It’s a great summer film that really heightens the idea of summer love.
