Wilmette Obit: Bill Creaney, 94, Founder of Creaney Floor Coverings

Visitation will be held Sunday and a funeral mass on Monday.

The following obituary is from Donnellan Family Funeral Services:

William D. Creaney, age 94, a longtime resident of Wilmette, owner of Creany Floor Coverings for 57 years. Bill was born in Belfast, Ireland and traveled to the United Sates at the age of 9. 

Bill proudly served the United States Army during WW II, with tours in Africa and Italy. Upon his return from the war, Bill married Lena Malizio on October 26, 1946 in Wilmette. 

Bill started Creaney Floor Coverings in 1950. In his free time Bill was active with the Peter Huerter Post American Legion, a friend to the Lutzenbergers and a longtime usher at St. Joseph Church, Wilmette. 

Beloved husband of the late Lena Creaney; loving father of Dan Creaney, JoAnn (Paul) Wilkinson, Will Creaney and Ken Creaney; dear grandfather of Matthew and Garrett Wilkinson; brother of Joe Creaney.
