Sherry Shuwal Gamoran, age 54

Beloved wife of Reuben for 27 years. Loving mother of Jesse, Isaac and Sarah.

Sister of Michael ShuwalLoving cousin, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt and friend to many. Preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Carol Shuwal.

Sherry had a deep compassion for the less fortunate, especially the elderly, working and volunteering on their behalf throughout her life.

Sherry received her Master’s in Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago. She worked as a social worker for the elderly in several capacities, including at Catholic Charities in Chicago. While raising her three beautiful children, Sherry volunteered with the literacy program at Oakton Community College. She recently moved with her family from Wilmette, Illinois, to Bethesda, Maryland, where she continued her volunteer work through the Washington English Center and Montgomery College. She was active in the Jewish community for many years and was on the Women of Reform Judaism board at Temple Sinai. She was a wonderful and compassionate listener and loved music, guitar, and walking with friends.

Funeral Service Monday, 2:00 pm, at Temple Jeremiah, 937 Happ Road in Northfield, IL, followed by interment at Shalom Memorial Park.
