An 18-year-old Wilmette resident was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, improper lane usage, leaving the scene of property damage and damage to village property, according to Wlimette police reports.

Police say the teen crashed his vehicle onto a lawn near the intersection of Sheridan Road and Greenwood Avenue. He then ran away before police got there, according to police. When officers arrived, they found his mother at the scene. His mother told police that her son was driving when he crashed through the yards of two homes on the 1100 block of Sheridan Rd, according to police. When he returned to the scene, he told police that he lost control negotiating a curve.

The charges against the teen were later dismissed.
