Wilmette Police Chief Brian King said in an email that officers responded to a report of a tree down in the roadway around 2:20 p.m. No injuries were reported, and the Wilmette Forestry Department began clearing the intersection by 2:45 p.m., according to King.

"Thank goodness no one was hurt and no electrical wires were involved," Gargula said in an email.

According to Gargula's son, John Gargula, a village worker said , as well as the tree's weak root system led to the fall.
