How Many DUI Arrests Did Wilmette Police Make in 2012?

Wilmette police made 73 DUI arrests and ranked 85th in the state in DUI arrests for 2012, according to a survey from the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists.

In Kenilworth, police made 5 DUI arrests and ranked 149th in the state in DUI arrests during the same period.

Cook County sheriff's department reported the most DUI arrests with 430 arrests made in 2012, followed by Lake (337), LaSalle (240), Champaign (222) and Coles (220) Counties.

For the 6th year straight, the Rockford Police Department is the first in the state in DUI arrests among municipal departments with 699 arrests for 2012, followed by Naperville with 576 arrests and Springfield with 460 arrests.

“Departments that make more DUI arrests do not necessarily pinpoint more drunk drivers in Illinois communities,” Rita Kreslin, executive director of AAIM in a statement. “It does indicate additional active enforcement in municipalities and counties, which aides in targeting DUI offenders.”

Arrests made by the Chicago Police increased by 25 percent in 2012 (3,795) compared to 2011 (3,037), Illinois State Police arrests decreased by 25.7 percent in 2012 (7,220) compared to 2011 (9,719).

AAIM surveyed nearly 700 police agencies, of those 84 percent responded.
