Jewel-Osco Employee Allegedly Stole $4,400 from Store

Wilmette Police reports state that a Jewel-Osco employee stole over $4,400 from the store.

An employee at Jewel-Osco in Wilmette allegedly stole an estimated $4,473.03 from the grocery store, according to Wilmette Police reports. 

The employee reportedly made fraudulent returns to her own credit card, handed out gift cards to her friends and under-rung purchases. She began the theft on April 17 and the most recent incident occurred on August 7, reports state. (The giving out of gift cards occurred before April 17, but no there is no known official start date.)

A Jewel-Osco corporate manager discovered the theft while doing a routine search for high dollar returns to the store. The store has multiple videos and photos of the suspect engaging in fraudulent returns, and debit cards associated with the returns were found in the suspect's vehicle, according to Wilmette Police. 

This incident is pending further investigation.
