Kenilworth PD Cracked Down During Holidays

Police were funded by federal traffic safety grants.

wrote 46 tickets during the 2011 holiday season as part of a nationwide crackdown.

A grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation gave the department the overtime money it needed to pay for an extra patrol officer. Kenilworth joined with police throughout the state to work to keep impaired drivers of the roads.

Extra emphasis was given to late night hours, as statistics show that is when the highest percent of motorists drink and drive and the fewest motorist buckle their seatbelts.
