Kenilworth Police Makes 9 Arrests During Memorial Day Campaign

The campaign aimed to get impaired drivers off Illinois roadways during the holiday.

Kenilworth Police made nine arrests and wrote 81 traffic citations during the Memorial Day campaign from May 11 to 28, in support of traffic enforcement crackdown, according to a press release.

The crackdown is part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click it or Ticket campaigns to get impaired drivers off Illinois roadways during the Memorial Day holiday.

Extra emphasis was given to late-night hours, as statistics show the highest number of motorists drink and drive and the fewest motorists buckle up during this time of day, according to the release.

Kenilworth Police Department joined forces with other state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in the crackdown campaign, which featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities.

The campaign was funded by federal traffic safety grants through Illinois Department of Transportation’s Division of Traffic Safety.
