Man Caught Shoplifting at Jewel-Osco

The following arrest information was supplied by the Wilmette Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Telephone Harassment
A victim on the 3000 block of Wilmette Ave. reported that between Aug. 30 and Aug. 31, she received several phone calls from an unknown phone number, which originated out of Virginia. The victim answered one of the calls and was asked for her Facebook information. 

Felony Retail Theft
Dametre Gamal Irby, 21, of Evanston is being charged with felony retail theft, according to police reports. Officers responded to Jewel-Osco on Aug. 31 for a shop-lifting in progress, but the suspect had fled by the time they arrived. He was located at the intersection of McCormick and Green Bay Rd. and taken into custody. 

Possession of Cannabis
A 17-year-old male from Wilmette was cited for possession of cannabis after a traffic stop on August 31 at the intersection of Wilmette Ave. and Ridge Rd. 

Criminal Damage
A victim on the 1200 block of Isabella Rd. reported that on August 30, an unknown offender pelted the front storm door of his residence with eggs, reports state. He said that a similar incident occurred a week earlier. 

Identity Theft
A victim on the 1700 block of Highland Rd. told police that between Aug. 21 and Aug. 31, an unknown offender gained access to his debit card account and made purchases over $200. He stated that he had recently filled out an in-store application for a Best Buy credit card and he felt that the clerk handling the application acted suspiciously.
