Officers Searching Suspect in 7-Eleven Armed Robbery

An armed suspect is still being searched for by police in connection to Thursday's burglary.

The Wilmette 7-Eleven, located at 500 Skokie Blvd., was held up in an armed robbery on Thursday night, Wilmette Police confirmed.

An officer confronted two offenders leaving the 7-Eleven and ordered them both to the ground at gun point, but the offenders ignored the order and fled in opposite directions. The officer chased one of the subjects behind the store, wrestling him off the fence. That suspect is in custody.

A second suspect is still being sought by police.

This suspect has been described by police as an African American male in his late teens to early 20's, 6'0 to 6'2 tall, thin build and last scene wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and dark tennis shoes. He is armed with a black semi-automatic hand gun.

Thanks for the update ...that explains the yard searches. Was the name and last known address of the captured released?

Thank you very much for including the descriptions of the perps, including their hood. At least one can now be on the lookout for hooded gangsters with blue jeans and tennis shoes, ect. etc. etc. Now we know, too, that they were not Tea Party types with semiautomatic weapons ("assault weapons") and concealed carry permits creating this mischief, perhaps as a result of the ban vs "assault weapons" (which were creating such mayhem in Evanston) by our wise City Council. The fact that the perp is armed, illegally of course, with a gun, puts everyone unarmed at a disadvantage vis a vis this perp, including the Seven Eleven unarmed customers and employees. Luckily for the unarmed employees, they did not suffer the fate of the two unarmed shopkeepers on Davis St., murdered in their little cigar shop, and, it seems, with impunity, since no further progress in the investigation has been made public. Does anyone know what is going on with THAT investigation? Perhaps a journalist somewhere can inquire?

Hi Fred! Thanks for your question. At this time, the name and the last known address of the captured suspect has not been released — it sounds like the charges are still pending, so that information won't be made official until those charges are finalized. We'll hopefully know sometime tomorrow.

of course the thugs are hitting the north shore. They know we're not armed with guns. They are entitled to everyone else's stuff. Politicians have been rewarding bad behavior for 50 years by confiscating law abiding citizens earnings to fund these fine upstanding individuals do nothin but reproduce, saggin lifestyle. They are entitled. its always the same-same people mugging folks down on Oak St and North Ave beach in broad daylight. But the minute a non African American exercises their 2nd Amendment right to defend life and property....Jesse and Al come out of the woodwork...they are the true 1%ers.
