Police: 91-Year-Old Victim of Phone Scam

Garage Burglary

A resident on the 1000 block of 13th St. reportedthat a bicycle had been taken from an unlocked garage between April 21 and April 22, police reports state. 

Fraud

A 91-year-old resident on the 700 block of Ridge Rd. reported that she was the victim of a phone scam when a subject claiming to be helping her grandson in an emergency call requesting that she wire money, police reports state. The transfer was able to be stopped and the money was returned.

Identity Theft

A resident on the 2200 block of Lake St. reported that an unknown offender(s) opened a credit card using her maiden name and ordered merchandise, which was then cancelled by her, police reports state. The incident was reported to police on April 23.

Criminal Damage

A resident on the 2100 block of Wilmette Ave. reported that after he and his wife left the house, an unknown offender(s) damaged the overhead garage door by denting the bottom corner with an unknown object, Wilmette Police reports state. 

Identity Theft

A resident on the 300 block of Ridge Rd. reported that unauthorized charges to her debit card occurred between April 8 and April 9, police reports state.

Identity Theft

A resident on the 2000 block of Beechwood Ave. reported that between April 17 and April 18, there were unauthorized charges to her debit card, police reports state.

Identity Theft

A resident on the 700 block of Ridge Rd. reported attempted unauthorized charges to his credit card, police reports state. The attempts occurred between March 17 and April 12. No loss was incurred and no further action is needed.

Disorderly Conduct

A resident on the 500 block of Maple Ave. reported a disturbing letter exchange between her family and the former caregiver, Wilmette Police reports state. The exchange occurred between Jan. 24 and April 24.

A resident on the 700 block of 3rd St. reported that a business relationship led to unwanted advances, according to Wilmette Police reports. The incident occurred on Aprli 23. The subject was spoken to by officers.

Parole Violation

William Iverson, 28, of Park Ridge is being charged with parole violation, according to Wilmette Police reports. He was arrested for a warrant for a parole violation for an armed robbery conviction, reports state. He was held overnight and was sent to bond court in the morning.
