Police, Fireman Respond to Wilmette Metra Incident

Union Pacific North inbound and outbound Chicago trains have been delayed.

A pedestrian-related incident at the Wilmette Metra station prompted police and fire response Friday evening, according to the village fire department.

A lieutenant at the Wilmette Fire Department confirmed crews "responded to a situation at Central Avenue" at about 8:30 p.m. A fire truck, several police cars and an ambulance were parked at Green Bay Road and Central Avenue, according to a Patch reader.

"The metra train is stopped and there were police officers walking around with yellow tape," the reader said in an email.

Wilmette police could not comment on the incident.

Meanwhile Union Pacific North trains in both directions are delayed, with a northbound train stopped at the Wilmette station as of 8:24 p.m., according to the Metra website.
