Police: Kenilworth Man Flashes Gun at Police Station

Unlawful Use of Weapon

A Kenilworth man was arrested for unlawful use of weapon after revealing to an officer at Kenilworth Police Station that he was in possession of a handgun, police said. 

James R. Booth, 76, of 310 Raleigh Rd., Kenilworth was arrested for unlawful use of weapon on Oct. 19. He was later transported for a bond hearing on Oct. 20 in Chicago. 

Police say Booth appeared distraught when he entered the police lobby and subsequently began yelling concerns for his safety. At one point, Booth revealed a .380-caliber handgun that was holstered in the waistband of his pants and then left the building, police said. 

Police later spotted Booth near Kenilworth Avenue and Cumnor Road and after a short vehicle pursuit Booth was taken into custody without incident in the 300 block of Raleigh Road, police said. No one was injured during the incident. 

Burglary

After returning home from walking the dog, a resident in the 400 block of Essex Road discovered that a necklace that had been left on the kitchen counter was missing on Oct. 16, police said. The home was unlocked, according to police. 

DUI

Esther Corpuz, 51, of 290 Northwood Rd., Riverside, was arrested Oct. 18 for driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the 800 block of Sheridan Road. Corpuz was later released and issued a Nov. 29 court date.
