Police Search for Suspect Wanted for Jimmy John's Armed Robbery

Wilmette Police are asking for information on the crime or anyone who recognizes the suspect to step forward.

Wilmette Police Department detectives are asking for anyone with information on last week's armed robbery at Jimmy John's — or anyone able to identify the suspect — to come forward, a release by the Wilmette Police Department stated.

The robbery occurred on Thurs., April 11 at approximately 8:56 p.m. Three employees at the 3520 Lake Ave. restaurant said that an unknown male offender came into Jimmy John's as they were closing. The offender displayed a gun and ordered the employees to the back of the restaurant. He asked them to open the safe, but they were unable to open it. The offender then took an undetermined amount of money from the cash register and left. The suspect was gone by the time the police reached the restaurant at 9:02 p.m.

The offender was described as a Caucasian male between 35 and 40 years old. He's between 5 ft. 6 in. and 5 ft. 8 in. with an average build with a few extra pounds. He was last seen wearing a green military-type jacket, a grey hooded sweatshirt, light blue jeans and black military-style boots. A Cook County deputy drew the accompanied sketch based on the description.
