Police: Taxi Passenger Strikes Driver in Dispute

Domestic Battery/Stabbing
An 18-year-old Wilmette man has been arrested for domestic battery and stabbing on June 23, Wilmette Police reports state. The brother-on-brother battery was over when parents separated them. The victim received a laceration on his arm and back, and a large scratch on his ribcage. The injuries were non-life threatening.

Criminal Damage
A victim on the 900 block of Elmwood Ave. reported that an unknown person(s) broke the rear window of the victim’s vehicle between June 17 and 23, police reports state. A bag containing an empty iced tea bottle and candy was located in the vehicle and is believed to be what was used to break the window.

Telephone Harassment
Patrick Zarilla, 28, of Willowbrook is being charged with telephone harassment, police reports state. Zarilla was stopped by Westmont Police for minor traffic violations on June 24, and was taken into custody because he was wanted by Wilmette Police. Zarilla was unable to make bond and was held for court.

Vandalism
A Highcrest School employee reported that someone turned off the air conditioner units on the roof of the school between June 22 and June 24, police reports state. This led to a walk-in freezer and cooler failing, which cost over $500 of food to be ruined.

Warrant Arrest

Suzane Shepard, 55, of Chicago was picked up on a 2012 Wilmette arrest warrant on June 24, police reports state. She was dropped off by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit. The 2012 charge was “Telephone,” according to police records. The subject posted bond.

Trees Knocked Down During Storm

Several trees and power lines were knocked down during a thunderstorm on June 25. Public works responded to clear street blockages including partial lane blockages in the 400 block of Skokie Blvd, the 2000 block of Lake Ave. and the 2500 block of Glenview Rd.
