Police: Two Chicago Men Stole Jewelry, Computer Equipment from Wilmette Home

Two Chicago men have been charged with residential burglary after police say they broke into a Wilmette home Tuesday and stole jewelry, computer equipment and other items.

Wilmette police said that the two men forced entry to a residence in the 2600 block of Greenleaf Avenue during morning hours and walked around, filling a plastic tote before bringing the stolen items to their vehicle. No one was home at the time of the burglary.

Chicago police stopped the two men in the 5700 block of West Carmen Avenue “a short time after the burglary” and reportedly recovered the stolen property.

Police reported that shoe impressions found at the Wilmette residence matched the footwear of the two suspects.

Mario Rivera, 28, of the 2800 block of North Pulaski Avenue, Chicago, and Carl Santiago, 34, of the 2700 block of West Nelson Street, Chicago, both remain in the custody of the Cook County Sheriff Police, each charged with one count of residential burglary.

Both men are scheduled to appear in Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 6.
