Police: Wilmette Man Punched Driver in Face During Road Rage Incident

The following arrest information was provided by the Wilmette Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Wilmette police arrested a local man after he allegedly punched another man in the face during a road rage incident, police reported.

Keith T. Clayton, 55, of the 1300 block of Maple Avenue, Wilmette, was charged with misdemeanor battery for his alleged role in the Nov. 16 incident.

Police say a victim told them he was driving in the in the 3100 block of Glenview Road, near I-94, at 7:17 p.m., when Clayton abruptly stopped his car, exited his vehicle, asked the victim “do you have a problem” and then punched the man in the face.

Clayton walked back to his car and drove off, police reported, but was later arrested at his residence after he was tracked down via his car’s license plate number.

Selling Cocaine

Thierri Callier, 26, of the 1100 block of North Dearborn Street, Chicago, was arrested by Wilmette police for allegedly possessing cocaine with the intent to deliver.

Residential Burglary

Someone stole 36 pieces of silver flatware valued at $300 from a home located in the 1100 block of Wilmette Avenue sometime between 6 p.m. on Nov. 16 and 6 a.m. on Nov. 18. Police reported no signs of forced entry.

A $300 bike was stolen from the garage of a residence located in the 800 block of Lacrosse Avenue sometime between 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 and 8:19 a.m. the following day.

Theft Arrest

Binish A. Qamaruddin, 23, of the 500 block of Leamington Avenue, Wilmette, was arrested charged with misdemeanor theft after police said she stole $175 between Nov. 6 and Nov. 15 as an employee of a department store located in the 3200 block of Lake Avenue. According to the police report, Qamaruddin allegedly credited her employee credit card with $175 while working at a store register. Store management provided police with video footage showing Qamaruddin committing the offenses, and police report Qamaruddin later admitted to stealing the money to pay back her parents.

Theft

An office chair, two Christmas wreaths and a box of tile were stolen from the unattached garage of a residence located in the 400 block of 9th Street sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 19. The victim told police that she placed the items near her garage for a short period of time while her home was being renovated. The stolen items have a combined estimated value of $400.

Two rolls of green carpet padding valued at $120 were stolen from the driveway of a home located in the 300 block of Beverly Drive sometime around noon on Nov. 16.

Criminal Damage

An unknown offender spray painted a speed limit sign located in the 2900 block of Central Avenue sometime before 7:44 a.m. on Nov. 20, changing the number “25” to an “85” with blue paint.

Someone spray painted a stop sign located in the 600 block of Locust Road between 4 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 7:44 a.m. the following day. The offender used a dark brown spray paint to put a line through the word “STOP” and wrote “GO” underneath. The same markings were found on another stop sign near the west exit of Regina High School, 701 Locust Rd., on the morning of Nov. 20.

An unknown offender used blue spray paint to tag a smiley face onto a stop sign located at the intersection of Romona Road and Northwest Central Avenue sometime before 7:44 a.m. on Nov. 20.

Auto Burglary

A $150 GPS device was stolen from the center armrest compartment of a car parked in the 600 block of Lacrosse Avenue sometime between 10 p.m. on Nov. 11 and 9 a.m. the following day.
