A man, who implied he had a knife, robbed a Wilmette stationery store Wednesday morning, according to police.
The man entered Yellow Bird Stationery, 1515 Sheridan Rd., and handed the clerk a note demanding money.
He left with $200 in cash and was last seen heading north from the store on foot, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with the word “life guard” printed on the back, and darker brown khaki shorts, police said.
No one was injured during the incident.
Police described the man as Caucasian with short darker brown hair in his early 20’s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. He was also described as smelling strongly of cigarette smoke.
Wilmette police officers conducted a search of the plaza immediately after the robbery but did not locate the man.
