Series of Burglaries, Damages Prompt Wilmette Police Alert
Police issued a crime alert Tuesday afternoon following several car, home and bike thefts.
More than 12 car burglaries have occurred between Sunday and Monday night, according to a Wilmette Police alert issued Tuesday. Additionally, a car was also stolen from a Wilmette resident in the 100 block of 5th Street.
The e-notice indicated that the following blocks have experienced thefts:
- 0-100 block of Crescent Place
- 1500 block of Walnut
- 300 block of Central
- 500 block of Park
- 100 block of 5th
- 1300 block of Wilmette
- 1200 block of Gregory
- 400 block of 5th
- 100 block of 16th
- 100 block of 13th
Meanwhile, police also included information on other thefts and criminal damage incidents:

- A residential burglary in the 400 block of Prairie Avenue. A laundry room door was forcefully entered.
- A garage burglary in the 3500 block of Walnut Avenue. The garage was left unlocked by the resident.
- Two skylight windows of the McKenzie School, 649 Prairie Ave., were graffitied between July 20 and 22.
- Between July 21 and 22, offenders entered Highcrest Middle School, 569 Hunter Rd., and damaged recently waxed floors, as well as a conference table.
Police encourage anyone who has information on these crimes to come forward.
