Skokie Man, Doctor, Charged with Videotaping Wrestlers

Ninos Danny Jando, of Skokie, was arraigned on Wednesday. He is charged with videotaping wrestlers while showering at a Michigan Community College, prosecutors say.

A Skokie man is facing charges of videotaping male college wrestlers in a Muskegon Community College locker room and shower, according to Michigan Live.

Ninos Danny Jando, 34, of Skokie, is charged with three counts of felony invasion of privacy, three counts of capturing an image of an unclothed person without consent, according to the publication. Each charge is punishable by up to five years in prison. Jando, a licensed podiatrist with a practice in Chicago, is said to have recorded up to three different individuals, but prosecutors said there might be more victims.

Jando was arraigned Wednesday afternoon.

According to Channel 8 WOOD TV News, a local Michigan news station, a student wrestler said he saw Jando leave the shower area with a toiletry bag “that appeared to contain a camera lens. The student also saw a red light coming from the bag,” the news channel reported.

"The defendant actually hung a toiletry bag on a shower head and positioned the camera in a hole in the bag that allowed him to video tape other patrons without them knowing it," Chief Assistant Muskegon County Prosecutor Tim Maat told Channel 8 TV.

Jando has a practice at 1044 N. Francisco Ave., Chicago.

For too long schools have had to be washrooms. Let's take all the showers out of our schools once and for all. Schools are places of learning and should not be responsible for bathing our children. Shouldn't a 17 year old be able to run a washrag over themselves after they get home from a sweaty, squirming wrestling match? Why should my hard-argued-about tax dollars have to pay for the water used to wash him off? And that's another thing! Why is it that tax money is paying for things like sports in schools? Wrestling? Really?! Back in my day, I got all the wrestling practice I needed at home, trying to get away from my pappy's belt!
