Man Claims Blood is Frosting, Stolen Goods Found in Knee Brace

Local police departments provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt.

A Chicago man was arrested after he was allegedly seen taking a Bulls jersey and putting it under his knee brace in Northbrook.

A 15-year-old from Chicago was charged with criminal defacement of property after he allegedly wrote a poem in a blue Sharpie marker on an Oak Park light pole.

A Chicago man was charged with retail theft after security for a store at Golf Mill Shopping Center said he took two Keurig coffee makers, with a combined value of $499.98, from a display and left without paying for them.

Niles police found a car that had allegedly been involved in an earlier hit and run accident parked in the driveway of the owner’s home. Police said the driver was slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle, which was running and had its transmission in drive and its headlights on.

Police tried numerous times to wake him, according to the report. When he finally woke, he hit the gas pedal and slammed into, and through, his garage door.

A Morton Grove man, who had already been charged with DUI that evening, was confronted by police over an alleged domestic battery. When Niles Police officers told him there was blood on the victim's leg and elbows and on the floor, he allegedly told them it was strawberry frosting from cake.

A Northbrook man who had heard someone in his garage overnight discovered the next day that his car’s driver’s side door was not completely closed. A pair of $12 gloves was missing and an unfamiliar pair of gloves was found lying inside out in the driver’s seat. 

Approximately $1,920 worth of postage stamps was stolen sometime from an office filing cabinet at Concordia University in River Forest.

A tow truck was stolen from a Skokie gas station.

A man allegedly hid three bath drains worth about $70 each inside a cabinet he purchased at an Evanston Home Depot, and then tried to walk out of the store.
