Wilmette Blotter: Ballet Bag Stolen From Car

The following information was supplied by the Wilmette police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

DUI

Gregory H. Hedrick, 21, of Wilmette was arrested for DUI at 5:42 p.m. Feb. 9 in the 500 block of Park Avenue after he collided head-on with another vehicle while driving on the wrong side of the road. He allegedly told police he had drank some beer, taken Adderall from a friend and smoked a bowl of marijuana.

Residential burglary

The rear doors of a home in the 900 block of Ashland Avenue were forced open between midnight Feb. 17 and 9:50 p.m. Feb. 19 and a complete set of silver flatware and $100 was stolen.

Burglary to a motor vehicle

A ballet bag containing ballet shoes, a leotard and a skirt was stolen from an unlocked Chevy Impala between 1 p.m. Feb. 19 and 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20 in the 1500 block of Wilmette Avenue. The loss is estimated at $250.

A pair of headphones and $5 were stolen from an unlocked car between 4 p.m. Feb. 17 and 9 a.m. Feb. 18 in the 900 block of 12th Street.

Theft

A Macbook Pro was stolen from a home in the 1900 block of Elmwood Avenue between 1:30 and 3:30 a.m. Feb. 20 while the homeowner's teenage son was hosting a group of seven friends and acquaintances.

Forgery

Desiree D. Curnett, 23, of Chicago was arrested for forgery Feb. 17. She allegedly stole nine checks while working as a nanny in her employer's home, filled them out for a total of $4,950 and deposited them in her bank account.

Retail theft

Elzbieta Chudzinski, 65, was charged with retail theft at 1:45 p.m. Feb. 19 at Carson Pirie Scott after she attempted to leave the store without paying for seven pieces of clothing totaling $152.

Identity theft

A resident of the 2400 block of Thornwood Avenue reported that someone had fraudulently used his Social Security number to file a tax return between 8 a.m. Feb. 15 and 5:55 p.m. Feb. 16.

Warrant arrest

Andre R. Ford, 45, of Chicago was arrested at 12:12 p.m. Feb. 18 in the 1300 block of Wilmette Avenue for a failure to appear warrant for theft of labor or services in Chicago.
