Wilmette Blotter: Cannabis Found; Car Stolen from Wilmette Auto Body

The following incidents occurred between April 11 and 23, according to Wilmette police.

DUI ARREST
A 37-year-old Chicago resident was stopped in the 2700 block of Lake Avenue at 5:48 a.m. on April 11 for improper lane usage. He was later arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. A breath test revealed the driver's blood alcohol content was .276, according to police.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A 65-year-old resident in the 2200 block of Iroquois Road reported that her credit card was fraudulently used between March 30 and April 19 to open an Amazon.com account. Also $1,400 in  purchases were made at Target.com.

THEFT TO MOTOR VEHICLE
A car was stolen from the rear parking lot of Wilmette Autobody between 5 p.m. April 18 and 1 p.m. April 19.  The car was supposedly locked, with the key in the front office of the repair shop. Also, a fuse box panel was removed from under the dashboard of another car, which authorities suspect was in an attempt to steal the vehicle.

An offender entered the rear of Lad and Lassie, 1115 Central Ave., about 6:18 p.m. and stole a wallet containing credit cards and cash.

DOMESTIC TROUBLE
A female resident in the 600 block of Laramie Avenue reported a domestic dispute with her son about 6 p.m. April 21. The woman told authorities that her older son had taken her car without permission. The son later returned the car and the keys.

DRIVING WITHOUT LICENSE
A 21-year-old Beach Park resident was stopped at 8:36 a.m. April 21 for a traffic violation at the corner of Ninth Street and Central Avenue. Authorities arrested the driver after they found he was driving without a license. 

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A Northfield resident whose car was parked in the 300 block of Dickens Road in Wilmette on April 21 reported that an expletive had been scratched into her car. A large "t" was also written on the driver's side door. The incident occurred between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. April 20.

A landscaping brick was thrown between 10:30 p.m. April 23 and 8:30 a.m. April 24 onto the roof of a BMW convertible in the 1800 block of Isabella Street. The rock tore a hole in the fabric roof, bent the metal roof supports and dented the driver's door. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

THEFT
The bowl from a stone bird bath located in the front lawn of a residence in the 600 block of Laramie Avenue was reported stolen at 5 p.m. April 20. The resident said the statue was intact when he left his home earlier that day. The bath had been in his front yard for more than 30 years.

A Carson Pirie Scott employee was arrested on a charge of attempting to steal $144 worth of clothing from the store on April 20. The employee had taken four items into a dressing room and was later detained by a supervisor when the items went missing. The items were later recovered from her purse.

An 83-year-old resident in the 3200 block of Big Tree Lane reported her garage door opener, garden spade and ice pick were stolen April 22. The incident occurred between April 15 and April 22.

A teen ran out of a cab without paying the fare in the 700 block of 12th Street.

DRUG BUST OF DRIVER

A 28-year-old Evanston resident traveling east was stopped for a traffic violation in the 2300 block of Wilmette Avenue at 11:28 a.m. April 23. Police searched the car and discovered a plastic bag containing less than 10 grams of cannabis and a glass smoking pipe. The man was arrested on a charge of drug possession and given a traffic ticket.
