Wilmette Blotter: Donation Jug Stolen

The following information was supplied by the Wilmette police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary

A large plastic water jug containing $100 to $200 in change and small bills to be donated to children in need was stolen between 1 p.m. Feb. 29 and 8:13 a.m. March 1 at the Wilmette Masonic Foundation. A damaged door that does not lock properly was used to enter the building.

Theft

Three ivory Japanese statuettes valued at $6,000 were stolen between March 1 and 6 from a home in the 1700 block of Washington Avenue. The home was undergoing remodeling at the time.

A Flying Dutchman backpack containing a notebook computer, a rosary and five cross pendants was left in a taxi between 5 and 6 p.m. Feb. 29. When the owners called the taxi company, they were told it was not turned in.

A man asked to buy two $79 cartons of cigarettes at 10:22 a.m. March 4 at Lake and Green Bay Auto Care Center. When his credit card was declined, he grabbed the cigarettes off the counter and ran away.

Marijuana possession

Jonathan J. Warde, 18, was cited for possession of marijuana, possession of a fake ID and failure to signal when required after he was stopped for making a left turn without signaling at 1:02 a.m. March 7 at the intersection of Golf Road and Lavergne Avenue in Skokie.

Shanice S. Robinson, 18, of Evanston was cited for possession of marijuana after the car she was a passenger in was pulled over for a traffic stop and police noticed a strong smell of marijuana.

Identity theft

A resident of the 700 block of Forest Avenue reported March 1 that someone used her personal information to have a new American Express card sent to them.

Burglary to a motor vehicle

Car keys were stolen from a coat in the coat room at Carson's Furniture Store and used to take a purse containing a makeup bag and Android phone from the owner's car. One of her credit cards was used to make nearly $1,500 in fraudulent purchases at Chicago stores.

Criminal damage to property

A Rubik's Cube was spray-painted on the fence around the dumpster at Treasure Island between 9 p.m. March 2 and 4 p.m. March 3.

DUI

Fabian E. Carbonell, 51, of Wilmette was arrested for DUI at 12:43 a.m. March 1 at the intersection of Columbus and Lake Avenue. He was also cited for improper lane usage.
