Wilmette Blotter: Drivers Arrested After Crashes; Cars Burglarized in Edens Plaza

The following incidents were reported between Sept. 13 and 20, according to Wilmette police.

ARREST
A 42-year-old Chicago man was arrested and charged with driving without a license on Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. The man had been in an accident at the intersection of Skokie Boulevard and Glenview Road when police discovered the violation.

A 19-year-old Glenview resident was stopped for traffic violations in the 1000 block of Hunter Road on Sept. 18 at 4:45 a.m. Further investigation revealed the man was driving drunk. He failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol content level of .065. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and underage drinking.

A 47-year-old Glenview resident was stopped at 3000 Glenview Rd., near the , for traffic violations on Sept. 19 at 1:46 a.m. Further investigation revealed he was driving under the influence of alcohol. He refused a breath test and was taken into custody.

A 23-year-old Chicago woman was stopped following a traffic accident at the intersection of Skokie Boulevard and Skokie Court on Sept. 15 at 5:59 p.m. Further investigation revealed she was driving on a suspended license.

A 41-year-old Chicago man was arrested in the 1100 block of Central Avenue on Sept. 14 at 8:41 a.m. and charged with driving without a valid license. Authorities discovered the violation after the man was in a traffic accident.

THEFT
A locked bicycle was stolen from a rack at , 569 Hunter Rd., between 2 p.m. Sept. 16 and 10 a.m. Sept. 17.

A resident in the 700 block of 20th Street reported that unauthorized purchases were made on her charge card for a laptop that was delivered to an address in Sunrise, FL, between Aug. 26 and Sept. 1.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY
An attempt was made to break into a home in the 1400 block of Maple Avenue between Sept. 13 and 16. The residents reported that an exterior window had several cracks and its aluminum frame had pry marks. A front storm window was cracked, and pry marks were also found on a window near the front door.

An attempt was made to pry the rear sliding door open at a home in the 2000 block of Lake Avenue between 10:30 a.m. Sept. 13 and 3:30 p.m. Sept. 

FRAUD
A Wilmette resident reported that two middle-aged women, one black and the other white, attempted to scam her on Sept. 16 at 4:18 p.m. The resident had been shopping at , 911 Ridge Rd., when she was approached by the pair. She refused to offer them money.

A resident in the 1000 block of Locust Road reported that unauthorized purchases were made using his Chase United Mileage Plus Visa credit card between Sept. 15 and 16. A Walmart representative notified the man of a fraudulent transaction worth $380 pending on the credit card. An additional $560 unauthorized charge was made.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE
An unlocked Lexus was burglarized while it was parked at the Edens Plaza, 3232 Lake Ave., on Sept. 15. A GPS device and two adapter chords were stolen while the car's owner was in a  coffee shop.

A laptop was taken from a car parked at , 3232 Lake Ave. on Sept. 15 at 12:56 p.m.

An unlocked Ford Escape was burglarized while it was parked in the 1700 block of Lake Street on Sept. 15. The car's owner was in a nearby  coffee shop when the break-in occurred. 

FIRE ASSIST
assisted the firefighters during a gas main leak in the 1000 block of Illinois Road on Sept. 13 at 4:09 p.m.
