Wilmette Blotter: Man Assaulted; Vulgar Calls

The following incidents were reported between June 13 and 16.

THEFT
A Mettawa resident reported that her wallet was stolen while she had lunch at the Five Guys in Eden's Plaza at 1 p.m. June 16. The woman noticed the item missing after she left the restaurant. The wallet contained two credit cards that were later used to make unauthorized charges. Also, three cash advances were made at a casino for about $2,092, $1,049 and $2,092 as well as to gasoline purchases at two service stations in Gary, IN.

A silver and white Schwinn mountain bike was taken from the Linden CTA station between 8:20 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. on June 16. The item is valued at $250.

A Wilmette resident near Linden Avenue and Sheridan Road reported $620 in cash missing from her home on June 16. She suspected the money was stolen between 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

An orange and black mountain bike was taken from the Linden CTA station between 8:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on June 14.

A silver Schwinn with black torn grips was taken from the Wilmette Metra station between 7:30 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. on June 13.

A Wilmette boy's Razor phone was taken from underneath a bench in the 100 block of Fourth Street on June 13 around 1 p.m. The boy questioned two teenagers sitting on the bench about the phone but they denied taking it. He told police that a car drove by later with the two teenagers, who said, "F#@* you. We have your phone."

DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE
A 33-year-old Chicago man was arrested in the 300 block of Linden Avenue on June 16 at 8 p.m. and charged with having no insurance, improper registration and driving without a license.

ANIMAL BITE
A 65-year-old Glenview man was walking his dog along Hartzell Street when two dogs ran at him, with the larger one jumping up and biting the man's right forearm. The bite was minor, but skin was broken, according to police reports.

OUTSTANDING WARRANT
A 38-year-old Chicago woman was arrested in the 1500 block of Wilmette Avenue at 4: 11 p.m. June 14 on charges of driving with a suspended registration and driving without insurance. An investigation revealed that there was a outstanding warrant involving a retail theft incident in Cook County. The woman was released on bond.

BATTERY
A Wilmette man required hospital treatment after he was assault during a gathering of friends in the 1900 block of Birchwood Avenue on June 14 at 7:33 p.m.

The man told police he was sitting with friends eating pizza when his attacker came up and took the boxes. He then grabbed the victim, threw him down, punched his head, twisted his fingers and banged his head against a banister. The group later moved inside.

After the victim went to the hospital and realized his finger was fractured, he went to the police station with a witness and filed a report.

PHONE CALL COMPLAINT
A woman informed police on June 13 that one of her son's classmates at Wilmette Junior High School had been making vulgar phone calls for four months to her home. The boy was later confronted and admitted to the incidents.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
The plastic face of a gas pump at Marie Murphy School was ripped off between 10 a.m. June 12 and 6:30 a.m. June 13.
