Wilmette Blotter: Two Homes Burglarized, Heroin Possession Arrest

The following information was supplied by the Wilmette police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary

Costume jewelry and a pillowcase were stolen from a home in the 900 block of Oakwood Avenue between 6:30 and 8 p.m. Nov. 12. The burglar propped a ladder against one of the house's walls, climbed onto the roof and entered through an open bedroom door.

The laundry room window was pried open and two iPods, a pillowcase, a wedding ring set, a pair of earrings and four engraved marathon medals were stolen between 3 and 6 p.m. Nov. 7 at a home in the 1800 block of Forest Avenue.

Heroin possession

Brian B. McCann, 23, of Wilmette was pulled over for driving without a seatbelt and arrested for having 10 grams of heroin in a prescription vial at 11:35 a.m. Nov. 10 in the 2300 block of Lake Avenue.

DUI

Christopher Sean Chambers, 25, of Wilmette was arrested at 3:13 a.m. Nov. 11 in the 1100 block of Lake Avenue for DUI and improper parking on roadway, According to police his car was stopped in drive while he was slumped forward in the driver's seat unconscious.

John M. Walsh, 45, of Chicago was arrested for DUI and improper parking on a roadway at 1:54 a.m. Nov. 10 in the 1900 block of Wilmette Avenue.

Fraud

Six purchases totaling $3,527 were fraudulently charged to a credit card belonging to a resident of the 800 block of Oakwood Avenue between Oct. 15 and Nov. 7.

A debit card belonging to a resident of the 400 block of Brookside Lane was fraudulently used to purchase a laptop on Walmart.com at 9 a.m. Nov. 3.

Burglary from a motor vehicle

An iPod/iPhone cassette adapter valued at $30 was stolen from an unlocked car between 8 p.m. Nov. 6 and 8 a.m. Nov. 7 in the 2100 block of Lake Avenue.

Identity theft

Leesa L. Lovett, 48, of Chicago was arrested on a Lake County warrant for identity theft after she came to the seeking money from the clergy fund at 1:14 p.m. Nov. 7.

Theft

A bicycle was stolen between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Nov. 9 at .

Retail theft

Rachael M. Saez, 31, was arrested at 3:41 Nov. 14 for steeling 26 Olay skincare items from .

Driving without a license

Concepcion J. Mendoza, 35, of Chicago was arrested at 3:46 p.m. Nov. 13 in the 3400 block of Lake Avenue for driving without a license and having a tinted rear registration plate cover.

Yazminia Leiva Caballero, 20, of Wilmette was arrested at 7:44 a.m. Nov. 7 in the 400 block of Greenbay Road for driving on a suspended license. She was also cited for disobeying a do not cross tracks sign and driving with an open bottle of Grey Goose vodka and a bottle of Vitamin Water with vodka in it. Her passenger, Eric Allen Wilson, 25, of Skokie, was also charged with possessing open alcohol.

Criminal damage to property

A “No Loitering” sign was spray-painted with the letters FO Nov. 11 at .

A garbage can was spray-painted with the word SIN between 9 p.m. Nov. 6 and 10 p.m. Nov. 7 in the 800 block of Harvard Street.

The letters SAV were spray-painted on top of a garbage can between 8 p.m. Nov. 5 and 8:30 a.m. Nov. 6 in the 2100 block of Lake Avenue.
