Wilmette Police Arrest Man For Home Invasion

Wilmette Police arrested a Chicago man for a home invasion that occurred July 22, according to a press release. 

Michael Bishop, 49, of 1400 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, was charged with aggravated domestic battery and home invasion, after he threatened an ex-girlfriend that he had not been dating for two and a half years. 

Police say Bishop went to an ex-girlfriend’s home in the 700 block of 11th Street in Wilmette at 9:10 p.m. on July 22. He rang the doorbell at the home and when the ex-girlfriend answered, Bishop forced his way into the home. 

Bishop used both hands to grab the throat of the victim, chocked and said he was going to kill her, according to police. Bishop forced the ex-girlfriend to the floor causing her minor injuries. Police say the victim escaped by kicking Bishop. When she called the police, Bishop left the area. 

Bishop was taken into custody at his home on July 23. He has been issued a July 30 court date in Skokie.
