Wilmette Police Blotter: $20,000 Jewelry Stolen, Bike Thefts

The following arrest information was provided by the Wilmette Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Jewelry Theft

Jewelry valued at $19,900 were stolen from a home in the 80 block of Indian hill between June 23 and 27. The resident told police he had a cleaning crew and someone clean the inside of his windows during the time frame of the theft. Among the items stolen were a diamond ring, gold necklace and earrings.

Jewelry and other items valued at $6,000 were stolen from a home in the 300 block of Greenleaf Avenue between the overnight hours of June 25 and 26. The residents were home when the offenders removed a screen and climbed into a first floor window that was open.

Bike Thefts

An unlocked bike valued at $400 was stolen while parked in Gillson Park, 101 Lake St., on July 3.

An unlocked bike valued at $500 was stolen while left for about 15 minutes in some bushes in the 1100 block of Michigan Avenue on July 4.

A bike valued at $350 was stolen from a detached garage in the 1500 block of Central Avenue between June 22 and 27.

A bike valued at $150 was stolen while chained to a tree in front of a house in the 300 block of Vista Drive.

Pet Dispute

A resident in the 1900 block of Birchwood Avenue told police that his daughter had taken the family dog without his permission.

Teens Arrested for Burglary to Auto

Two Skokie teens were arrested June 30 after a police stopped them and found items in their backpacks that looked like they were stolen from cars. The 17-year-olds told police they had entered unlocked vehicles and identified the items they stole.

Burglary to Auto

A cell phone valued at $200 was stolen from an unlocked car parked in the 2600 block of Laurel Lane between June 29 and 30.

DUI
[Redacted], 19, of Evanston, was arrested for driving under the influence following a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Asbury Avenue in Evanston. He was later released after posting bond.

Andrei Pankov, 30, of 466 Ascot Ln., Streamwood, was arrested July 1 for driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop at Skokie Boulevard and Old Orchard Road.

Abraham Oonnittan, 22, of 5139 N. Springfield, Chicago, was arrested June 30 for driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop on I-94 near Glenview Road.

Amanda M. Briseno, 27, of 8022 Cooper Rd., Kenosha, Wis., was arrested June 29 for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level higher than .08 following routine check in the 3000 block of Lake Avenue.
