Wilmette Police Blotter: Assault, Attempted Burglary

The following arrest information was provided by the Wilmette Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Fraud

A resident on the 1100 block of Lake Ave. reported that someone had made unauthorized purchases after obtaining unauthorized access to his bank account between Jan. 22 and Jan. 31, Wilmette Police reports state.

Attempted Burglary

A resident on the 100 block of Maple Rd. reported that an unknown offender(s) had damaged the side access door to the unattached garage between Jan. 29 and Jan. 30 by appearing to have tried to pick the lock, according to Wilmette Police reports. There was no entry to the garage. 

Fraud

A resident on the 2500 block of Thornwood St. reported that between Jan. 12 and Jan. 13 someone had gained unauthorized access to his Discover charge and had made unauthorized purchases, Wilmette Police reports state. 

Assault

A victim reported that he was filling up his vehicle at the Lake and Laramie Shell gas station on 3501 Lake St. on Feb. 1 when another vehicle pulled up in front of his, Wilmette Police reports state. Two male subjects exited the vehicle and began yelling at the victim, and then one threw a lighter at the victim's auto and both began kicking the vehicle, causing damage, the report states. One of the subjects, according to the report, attempted to kick the victim in the head before the offenders entered their vehicle and drove off. 

Prowler 

A resident on the 100 block of 9th St. reported to police that they heard a noise and then saw a shadow figure in the backyard on Jan. 29, Wilmette Police reports state. Nothing was located. 

Prowler 

A resident on the 200 block of Pin Oak Dr. reported to police that the resident heard someone trying to access the front door on Jan. 29, Wilmette Police reports state. Nothing was located. 

Disturbance

A resident reported a homelss person inside a building at 506 5th street, Wilmette Police reports state. He was gone on arrival. 

Fire Investigation

Officers responded to 2240 Greenwood Ave. for a reported car fire, Wilmette Police reports state. Officers note that they located a Dodge caravan in front of the building that had a fire and heavy smoke coming from the engine compoartment. Wilmette Fire Department put the engine fire out and North Shore Towing moved the vehicle to their lot. 

Criminal Damage

A resident reported that damage occurred on her car either at 3232 Lake St. or at Carson Pirie Scott sometime between Dec. 23 and Jan. 24, according to Wilmette Police reports. The resident believes the damage occurred at Carson's because she usually parks her car in the garage at home. The left turn signal lamp assembly was missing and the grill was damaged. 

Theft

A resident reported that someone stole his briefcase and cell phone while he was on the Metra train, at 722 Green Bay Rd. on Jan. 30, Wilmette Police reports state.
