Wilmette Police Blotter: Bike Theft, Unlocked Cars Burglarized

Theft

A vintage men’s bicycle was reported stolen April 14 while parked near the arcade shops of Plaza Del Lago, 1515 Sheridan Road, where it was left unlocked on April 12.

A locked bicycle valued at $600 was stolen outside the CTA station at Fourth Street and Linden Avenue on April 12.

Burglary to Auto

A vehicle parked in the 100 block of Briar Drive was burglarized sometime between April 15 and 16. The front passenger side window was broken to gain entry and a Liz Claiborne wallet containing a debit card was stolen.

A vehicle parked in the 1200 block of Gregory Avenue was burglarized between the overnight hours of April 15 and 16. A pair of sunglasses was stolen. The owner told police the car doors were accidently left unlocked.

DUI

Marcela Cristina Gomez-Saldana, 36, 5318 S. Spaulding, Chicago, was charged April 16 with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured vehicle and speeding. After processing she was transported to bond court.

Fraud

Jerry Arceo, 31, 8820 Root St., Niles was charged April 16 with unlawful use of a credit card following a traffic stop.

Identity Theft

A resident in the 100 block of Garrison Street reported April 16 that someone used his personal information to open an online account and made a $1,644 purchase online.

Damage to Cars

A resident reported that the rear window of his car parked in the 1100 block of Forest Avenue was broken out sometime between the overnight hours of April 10 and 11. It appears that nothing was taken from the vehicle.

A Chicago resident reported scratches and dents on his vehicle car parked on the 1600 block of Spencer Avenue on April 11.

A resident in the 900 block of Ninth Street reported that the windshield of his car parked in front of his house was broken with a brick sometime during the overnight hours of April 10 and 11.

Property Damage

A business owner in the 100 block of Green Bay Rd., reported that the fire escape on his building was damaged on April 13. The owner believes a delivery truck to his business might have damaged the fire escape. The estimated cost to fix the damage is $500.

Graffiti

One train car was painted with graffiti over the over the weekend of April 14.

A village light post at the northwester corner of Maple Street and Sheridan Road was discovered vandalized with a black marker on April 16.

Driving Incident

Martin L. Arambula, 37, 551 Shelly Ct., Wheeling, was charged April 14 with driving while license revoked following a traffic stop in the 2600 block of Lake Avenue.
