Wilmette Police Blotter: Car Theft, Boy Robbed, Attempted Retail Theft

Robbery

An 11-year-old boy reported that his I-phone valued at $100 was taken by two teens between 13 to 14-years-old at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Ridge Road at 9:25 a.m. on July 6. The boy was riding his bicycle home from summer camp.

Theft

A person reported on July 7 that a $500 Home Depot gift card purchased using America Express points had already been used in Arizona in January when the victim attempted to use the gift card.

Auto Theft

A resident in the 200 block of Sunset Drive reported his unlocked car with keys inside was stolen during the overnight hours between July 5 and 6. 

Burglary

A GPS navigation system valued at $300 was stolen from an unlocked garage in the 100 block of 17th Street between July 6 and 7. 

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

A wireless speaker, sunglasses and wallet valued at a total of $550 were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 300 block of Maple Avenue between July 6 and 7.  

An unknown amount of coins were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 200 block of Central Park Avenue between July 6 and 7. 

Unpaid Fare

A man ran away without paying his $48 cab fare in the 1600 block of Sheridan Road on July 8. 

Attempted Theft

Two women attempted to steal five handbags from Yellow Bird Stationery, Invitations & Gifts, 1515 Sheridan Road at 4:30 p.m., July 7, according to police. A store employee told police the women tried to hide the bags under a skirt and left when the employee said she was calling the police. The employee said the handbags were not in their original locations; two were left on the ground and three were on a shelf.
