Wilmette Police Blotter: Ethnic Slurs Scrawled on School, Illegal Dumping

Criminal Damage

An unknown offender used a black marker to scrawl racist termanology, ethnic slurs and derogatory words on the brick exterior of Highcrest Middle School, 569 Hunter Road, sometime between 4 p.m. on Sept. 28 and 8 a.m. on Oct. 1.

Theft

An unknown offender driving a Gold GMC SUV reportedly stole $80.23 worth of gasoline from a BP Amoco gas station located in the 900 block of Green Bay Road at 12:28 p.m. on Sept. 29.

A specialized road bicycle and a cable key lock with a combined value of $275 were stolen from a bike rack in the 700 block of Green Bay Road sometime between 10 a.m. on Sept. 15 and 9 p.m. on Sept. 25. The victim reported the bicycle is light blue and had the word “specialized” written on the frame.

A blue Schwinn bicycle valued at $300 was stolen from the Metra train station, 722 Green Bay Rd., sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 6:10 p.m. on Sept. 24. The bicycle’s lock was also reported stolen.

Fraud

An unknown offender reportedly attempted to use a fraudulent ATM card to withdraw $500 from a Bank of America ATM located in the 100 block of Green Bay Road sometime between 7 a.m. and 10:48 a.m. on Sept. 30. The bank account’s owner said he was still in possession of his ATM card and had used the card earlier that morning in both Evanston and Huntley. The fraudulent transaction was denied due to insufficient funds.

Illegal Dumping

Unknown offenders reportedly dumped construction debris in a lot shared by two businesses in the 3600 block of Lake Avenue sometime around 5:10 p.m. on Sept. 26. Security camera footage reportedly showed two red-and-white trucks dumping the materials and then driving off.
